Travelling to Uppsala
Uppsala is the capital of Uppsala County and the fourth largest city of Sweden.
It has just over 200,000 inhabitants. Uppsala is located 70 kilometers North of Stockholm.
Three major airports are located near Stockholm: Arlanda, Bromma and Skavsta.
We strongly recommend you fly to Arlanda, as it is very close to Uppsala.
Stockholm-Arlanda airport
Stockholm-Arlanda Airport is
the main airport in Stockholm, and the largest in Sweden. It is located between
Uppsala and Stockholm, 35 km South of Uppsala (and actually closer to Uppsala
than Stockholm), so you do not need to go by Stockholm on your way to Uppsala.
From Arlanda you can choose three modes of transportation to Uppsala:
- Going by train from Arlanda Airport to Uppsala is very convenient.
The journey takes 18 minutes.
The trains, called SL-pendeltåg, leave every half hour from SkyCity (Arlanda C),
which is situated between terminals 4 and 5. A one-way ticket costs 165 SEK.
Tickets can be bought using the ticket-vending machines, or at the ticket
desk in Sky City. For more information and timetables please check the

When going back to the airport, buy your ticket inside the train station or
at machines on some of the platforms. The ticket should be validated on the platform before entering the train.
- Bus 801 runs between Arlanda and central Uppsala twice every hour. It stops at
bus stop 13 by all terminals.
The journey takes about 40 minutes and costs 90 SEK (100 SEK if bought from the driver).
The easiest way to buy the ticket is from the driver, who will only accept credit cards.
You can also buy a ticket from the UL ticket desk in Sky City (see above).
People with a Swedish mobile phone will be able to buy a ticket using SMS.

- Taking a taxi costs around 500 SEK and takes about 30 minutes. Taxis are found
just outside the terminal. Please ask the driver for a price in advance.
The taxi can be paid by credit card or with cash.

A driver will be waiting for you in the arrival hall.
Stockholm-Bromma airport
Stockholm-Bromma airport is located
9 km West of Stockholm Central Station and 70 km South of Uppsala.
The airport bus runs between Bromma airport and Stockholm city bus terminal, next
to the central station.
- First you have to take a bus to Stockholm Central Station. The journey time to
Stockholm is 20 minutes and the ticket costs 74 SEK.
The ticket can be bought from the ticket-vending machines or
online.
- The journey by train from Stockholm Central Station to Uppsala Central Station takes 40
minutes and the ticket costs 82 SEK.
The tickets can be bought from a ticket desk in the main hall of the station or from
a ticket-vending machine.

Stockholm-Skavsta airport
Stockholm-Skavsta airport is located 110
km South of Stockholm Central Station and 177 km South of Uppsala.
Airport shuttle buses run between Skavsta Airport and Stockholm Central Station.
- First you have to take a bus to Stockholm Central Station. The journey time to
Stockholm is 80 minutes and the cost is 129 SEK.
The ticket can be bought from the ticket-vending machines or
online.
- The journey by train from Stockholm Central Station to Uppsala Central Station takes 40
minutes and the ticket costs 82 SEK.
The tickets can be bought from a ticket desk in the main hall of the station or from
a ticket-vending machine.
